Open Studio is for anyone who would like to paint or work on a project in the Members’ Gallery at KIFA. Hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-4:00pm when docents are on duty. A donation of $5 is requested and will go toward the support of KIFA and its outreach to our art community.

Students will learn basic handbuilding and decorating techniques to make pottery pieces.
Cost: $100 for KIFA Members $115 for Non-Members
Paper Quilling is the art of rolling, shaping and arranging thin strips of paper to create decorative patterns, floral designs and dimensional artwork. Using simple tools and techniques, students will learn how to form coils, scrolls and other basic shapes that can be combined into unique creative compositions. This is a class for beginners and materials are provided.

Do written words affect you? Would you like to write some of your own while having fun? Penny Purcell would like to have you join her and others to do just that! First timers and old hats are welcome to enjoy a fun play date with written words! Tuesday, June 30 from 2:00 - 3:30 at KIFA.

DESCRIPTION
The course is designed for beginner students as well as students with some wheel experience . Students will practice basic forms, pulling handles, as well as learn some advanced wheel projects.

DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to introduce and familiarize students with the basic techniques of the pottery wheel, focusing on throwing cylinder and bowl forms. Students will be shown step-by-step processes of wedging, centering, opening, throwing, trimming and glazing, taking clay from its beginning stage to finished forms. This class is designed for those who have never used the wheel or are working on basic skills. Pottery terminology and basic glaze techniques will be discuss
OPEN STUDIO
We will be trying out new Open Studio Hours. FRIDAYS 10:30-1:30
If you have taken a class with us or have experience you can buy Open Studio Tickets for $10. You can come in and create during that time. We will have a studio monitor there to oversee and who can answer questions but won’t be doing any teaching. If you haven’t taken a class with us, you will have to contact Stephanie Zeiler at cascioclaycenter@gmail.com to establish prior experience.

Japanese Themed Gourd Vase

Zentangle is a meditative and easy-to-learn art form that uses structured repetitive patterns to create intricate non-representational images. Zentangle is designed to be accessible to everyone, requiring no prior artistic experience. Instructor will provide basic kit. Students must bring their kit to each class.

Create a Japanese inspired gourd vase with an organic old world feel. You’ll focus on earthy textures using materials that look aged but are not. All materials provided. If you have a medallion you would like to use please bring it with you. I’ll also have medallions for you to use. This class is for adult beginners.
