CALL FOR PLEIN AIR ARTISTS
Kent Island Federation of Arts (KIFA) will be holding it's third annual "Gardens by the Sea" tour the weekend of June 9 and 10, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Once again, a feature of the garden tour will be plein air artists painting in the gardens. All interested artists are invited to sign up to paint in one of these beautiful gardens.
There is no entry fee this year. Artists will be invited to attend a follow up "KIFA Friends Thank You Party" at which time they will be able to exhibit their garden paintings for sale. Any sales made will be handled through KIFA. A 25% commission will
be retained by KIFA.

You are invited to enjoy a self-guided tour of beautiful waterfront gardens on Kent Island and surrounding areas. Docents will greet you at each garden and present special features that make our seaside gardens unique. You may observe plein-air artists at work and enjoy musicians as you stroll through the rich mosaic of some of our finest properties. Highlights of this year’s gardens include a “living shoreline” restoration project in progress, a vineyard with optional wine-tasting, a new and revised miniature garden train layout as well as a plethora of native plants and flowers.
The Garden Tour coincides with the KIFA gallery show for the month of June, ‘The Artists’ Garden’ featuring works by local artists inspired by gardens, offering you an opportunity to purchase original art at a nominal cost. Also, be sure to visit the Garden Boutique at KIFA where you may find hand-crafted objects d’art for your garden or a gift for a friend, open only this one weekend, June 7--10.
Tour tickets may be purchased in advance for $20 each, $25 Tour weekend. Your universal ticket/booklet will be held at KIFA until the day of the Tour. One ticket is good for both days of the tour.
When you arrive at KIFA on Tour Day, you will be given your universal ticket/brochure with a map & directions to each of the gardens; public facilities will be indicated. There are many wonderful restaurants in the area for your dining pleasure.
Money raised from this event will be used to help the Kent Island Federation of Arts (KIFA) achieve their mission to bring art to the community by teaching and providing outlets for the appreciation and expression of the arts.

Call for 2012 Garden Boutique Vendors
For the second year, the boutique will be held inside KIFA to coincide with The KIFA “Gardens by the Sea” Tour. Over this weekend we expect several hundred visitors who come through the boutique at KIFA to get their map and program; their focus is anything related to gardens and the sea, and many may enjoy a little shopping on the way, thus the requirement to submit handcrafted products/artwork related to gardens and the sea. Membership at KIFA is welcome, but not required for this event.
We ask that you volunteer to be a docent either in the boutique or in one of the gardens for a three-hour shift sometime over the weekend. In return for being a docent, you get one free ticket to the Garden Tour and an invitation to the After Party. Please contact KIFA to volunteer.
Boutique entry is free of charge. KIFA will retain a 25% commission from your sales proceeds.
